Here is the checklist that I passed out at the end of the 2009-2010 school year for those of you who have asked me to write you a letter of recommendation. Use this to keep track of everything you need to do for this busy yet exciting time of your senior year.
Teacher Recommendation Letter Checklist
Now you have started the process of asking teachers for letters of recommendation. The college application process is one that takes organization and good planning. This sheet is meant to help you in that process. Hold onto it and use it to help you keep track of deadlines.
1. Red folder given to Ms. Shipp
-With personal information sheet & resume
-Please turn this into Ms. Shipp before summer.
2. List of colleges to which you are applying
- Include the name of college and the deadlines for each
- Complete this portion on the bottom part of this sheet
3. Envelopes for every school to which you are applying
- These should be stamped and addressed
4. Teacher recommendation forms from schools
- Schools typically require additional forms for teachers
to fill out for the recommendation process
-Check to see if your schools require this
-Make sure to fill out your information on these sheets
-Let teachers know which schools require the Common App.
5. Remind teachers about recommendation deadlines
-On top of teaching classes your teachers are probably writing
multiple recommendation letters
-Give them a friendly reminder a week or two before the deadline
6. Thank your teachers!
- A simple thank you card makes the whole process worth it.
